Base Book Club: Justice in the City

Join JCUA and Base Logan Square for this six part series that is one part learning series and one part book club. The Jewish community talks a good deal about justice and tikkun olam (repairing the world), but what do Jewish sources say about justice? In what ways does our Tradition conceive of justice? Together we will read Justice in the City: An Argument from the Sources of Rabbinic Judaism by Aryeh Cohen. This book explores conceptions of justice in the context of the city making the argument that a city ought to be a community of obligation. Each week we’ll read a chapter and when we come together to discuss that chapter we will take time to look carefully at the Jewish sources that Cohen used. This will allow us to dig deeper and think through Jewish conceptions of justice together. Address and details provided the day before the event.
