JRC’s Lakefront Shabbat
July 15, 2022 @ 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM
An event every week that begins at 7:00 PM on Friday, repeating until August 26, 2022

Each Friday night, June 3rd – August 26th, JRC, (Jewish Reconstructionist Congregation) invites the community to celebrate Shabbat on Evanston’s beautiful lakefront, a JRC summer tradition enjoyed by every generation. As the sun sets over Lake Michigan, Rabbi Rachel Weiss along with Cantor Howard Friedland and Rabbi David Eber will lead joyfully laid-back services awash with singing, laughter, gratitude, nature, and prayer.
This summer, JRC introduces Shabbat Littles at the Lakefront, a story and song-filled Shabbat celebration for 0-5 year olds and their grownups. With the services scheduled from 5:30-6pm, families will have the opportunity to enjoy an evening adventure and still have time to shuffle their sticky kiddos home before bedtime.
Lakefront Shabbat Dates:
Participants are encouraged to set up their blankets and enjoy a picnic style dinner prior to services. Most services are from 7-8 pm at Elliot Park (Lakeshore Blvd. at Hamilton St.) unless otherwise noted. Join our educational leaders to Explore Kehillah: Family Education Gatherings to learn about JRC’s Shabbat-based Jewish learning program.
