Shtisel Uncovered: The New Haredim

February 10 @ 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM

Free

Yehonatan Indursky is an award-winning writer and director, who has invited us into a world set in the cobblestone labyrinths of haredi Jerusalem where the haredi protagonists are fully formed and fleshed out characters — deeply, radically human.

Shtisel paints the vibrant inner lives of characters who, to those outside of it, occupy a world too often shrouded in stereotype. Yet Shtisel offers us a way in and asks us to listen deeper. There is an underlying current of change, with a new haredi movement emerging and discussion about diversity, access to equal rights and democratic values in Israel today.

New Israel Fund and Anshe Emet Synagogue welcome a discussion of the most popular television series in Israel and its impact on the New Haredim.

This event is free but registration is required through NIF or AES:
