Location: 4100 W Ann Lurie Place Chicago, IL 60632 (there is parking for anyone with a car. Those without a car, but still want to join can reach out to me to coordinate transportation)

We will be helping the Greater Chicago Food Depository with their repacking of donated food and other products. A lot of the food they receive comes in bulk quantities. Volunteers help them split up the food into more manageable sizes. Some things we may be doing are: sort produce, inspect and box shipments of bread, or repack bulk dry goods (pasta, rice, beans) into smaller quantities. This is a great introduction to the GCFD, you will be able to see the process, the work that they do, and learn about the need for easily accessible food in Cook County. Together, we can properly and efficiently distribute quality food to participating food pantries, soup kitchens and shelters in Cook County.
