When is Lag B’Omer 2025?

Lag B’Omer is Friday, May 16, 2025. The holiday begins at sundown on Thursday, May 15, and ends at nightfall on Friday, May 16.

What is Lag B’Omer?

Lag B’Omer is the 33rd day of the Omer count, a 49-day period between Passover and Shavuot. It marks a break in the semi-mourning period of the Omer and is celebrated with bonfires, outdoor activities, and joyous events. The day commemorates the end of a plague among Rabbi Akiva’s students and honors the yahrzeit (anniversary of death) of Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai, a revered sage and mystic.
