The Festival was created in 1980 to gather and uplift the Jewish community.

The Greater Chicago Jewish Festival is produced biennially to celebrate Jewish culture
and to share it joyously and proudly with others. The Festival is the largest Jewish
cultural event in the Chicago area and the longest running Jewish festival in America. It
is a purposeful expression of our love for the Jewish American experience. We need
this now, more than ever.

At this time, when we are all still traumatized by the attack of October 7, 2023 and we
are still consumed with prayers for the return of the rest of the hostages, we need to
come together in strength, courage and fortitude. We will include an individual
opportunity to commemorate those who were and are the victims of the attack with the
creation of a grove of saplings that Festival attendees will plant.

We are adding to our security elements in an expanded and coordinated plan to protect
everyone at the Festival. Some security measures you will see and some will not be
evident. We work with 6 law enforcement departments and agencies on the Festival
grounds.
