Echoes of History: Is this the Holocaust?

February 8 @ 6:30 PM - 8:00 PM

Free

For many, the Hamas terrorist attacks in Israel on October 7, 2023, have triggered historical and/or personal/familial memories of pogroms and anti-Jewish violence that echo through history. How do those parallels help us understand current events through the context of Jewish and world history, and at what point do those comparisons cause harm by distorting history? This session will clarify how understanding the past can help us better address the present day, and work toward a better future.

Join Stephen D. Smith, Chairman and co-founder of StoryFile and Executive Director Emeritus of USC Shoah Foundation, as he explores this topic.

This program is part of the Museum’s “Understanding & Confronting Anti-Jewish Hate” community series.

Free to the public. Reservations required.
