What is Match Made in Chi?

Have you recently been followed by the Instagram account @matchmadeinchi? Are you wondering what it is? Who is behind it? Do you know them…? We are too!

ChiTribe slid into their DMs to uncover more. In order to verify that this is a credible new Jewish effort in the city, ChiTribe spoke with the creators of Match Made in Chi. We respect their wishes to remain anonymous. What we can tell you is these two women want to make the entire matchmaking process more sacred and safe.

Match Made in Chi is the new matchmaking effort in Chicago that hopes to eventually grow into something scalable and profitable. For now, the women behind Match Made in Chi are just having fun and trying to do some good. The small team hopes to expand to the LGBTQ community because they know there is a need.

Through a google form used to gather information securely, Match Made in Chi explains they are not professionals but just doing what they can to create Jewish couples during the pandemic. The form asks for your full name, age, profession, Instagram handle, location, and a few short answer questions. Participants are asked to share their favorite and least favorite things to help find commonalities and shared interests. They are also asked to share any deal-breakers with the examples listed as “won’t date anyone under a certain height” or “no smoking”.

Communicating only through DM, the current matchmaking process is all on Instagram. Before sharing contact info, Match Made in Chi reaches out to the women. As a woman run initiative, their priority is to always “make sure females can find partners and feel safe in this world of dating.”

We are not claiming to be professional matchmakers, just doing what we can to help create some connections and some positivity in these weird times we’re living in!
