Chabad at UIC and West Loop is one of over 4,500 Chabad Centers worldwide, inspired by the vision of the Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem M. Schneerson. Chabad at UIC was founded in 2008 as a division of Lubavitch Chabad of Illinois to provide Jewish opportunities to Jewish students at UIC and Rush and to serve the community in the vicinity.
Led by Rabbi Bentzy and Chani Shemtov, Chabad has reached out and touched thousands of lives through a warm and personal approach to community building.
Hundreds of students, individuals and families have taken part in weekly Shabbat dinners & Services, Torah Classes, Jewish Social events, Holiday Family Events, Women's Events, Tot Shabbats, Public Menorah Lightings, Passover Seders, Jewish Kids Club and more. In 2013, Chabad moved to its current location on 1074 W. Polk St, where it continues to grow.
Many consider the Chabad House their Jewish home away from home. It is a place where all can feel welcome and comfortable regardless of observance and affiliation.
You are invited to visit the Chabad House to experience the warm Chabad welcome.
