Meet Sam Egar- partner and co-founder of HiFi Social and HiFi Hospitality. In 2017, Sam’s business partners started a local collegiate event production company at Northwestern, UChicago, Depaul, and Loyola called 4Stars Events. ChiTribe was excited to learn more about Sam and all of his business endeavors.

Where are you from?

How did you get into your business?

I was brought in in 2018, and we rebranded to HiFi Social, with a newfound focus on collegiate travel to cities such as Chicago, Nashville, New Orleans, Toronto, Las Vegas, and many other travel markets.

What is your target demographic?

We work with collegiate groups nationwide, providing end-to-end travel and event services (hotel bookings, transportation, group dining, venue procurement/management, afterparties, and entertainment. Four years after starting, we are now the largest Destination Formal provider nationwide for Greek Life. We plan to travel over 50,000 students in the next academic year, in addition to hundreds of events locally in Chicago.

What venues have you worked in?

We opened our first venue, The Dime, a Lincoln park sports bar, in 2019. We opened Chalet and Storyville in River North two years later in summer ’21. We’re looking for new major markets for a Chalet expansion.

What do you like to do for fun?

I’m incredibly fortunate to work in the business of everything I love: eating, drinking, traveling, and socializing. The hospitality and events world is 24/7, nonstop, but allows me to constantly engage with all of my passions and always be exposed to new people and cultures. As cliche as it is, I found a job I love doing and it doesn’t feel like work.
