Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur with Anshe Emet Synagogue

Celebrate the High Holy Days at Anshe Emet Synagogue.

GENERAL INFORMATION
This year, Anshe Emet will hold in person services in the following spaces: Main SanctuaryBlum Social Hall4th Floor Bernard Zell Gym (for Minyan T’Ruah services), and Malkov Chapel (for Minyan Rimon services). Descriptions of services can be found on our worship schedule page. The Main Sanctuary will also be available for viewing via livestream with closed captioning on the AES website.


INCLUSIVE ACCOMMODATIONS
Anshe Emet is committed to including all members of its congregation. The Kehilla Kedosha Committee (Inclusion Committee) is proud to offer the following accommodations for congregants during the High Holy Days:

  • Preferred accessible seating
    available in most services
  • Assistive listening devices in the Main Sanctuary
  • ASL Interpreter in Blum Social Hall
  • Large print mahzorim
  • Printed copies of sermons available at the concierge desk
  • Livestream with captioning during the Main Sanctuary services
  • Fidgets at every point of entry

We kindly request you refrain from wearing strong fragrances as some community members have allergies.

  • Minyan T’ruah Services in the 4th Floor Gym
    • Our warm & vibrant services, where davening is lay-led and Anshe Emet’s rabbis deliver D’vrei Torah and prayer introductions, are welcoming prayer services designed to empower its participants. Page numbers will be announced at appropriate intervals, microphones will be used to make sure that the service is accessible, and the Lev Shalem Mahzor, which includes some transliteration, will be used.
  • Minyan Rimon Services in the Malkov Chapel
    • This participatory, lay-led service, where both davening and D’vrei Torah are provided by community members, is designed to facilitate a joyous prayer experience where previous knowledge of the service will prove helpful. Page numbers will be called and visually displayed for key prayers. Amplification will not be used. The Koren Mahzor, which does not include transliteration, but does highlight some additional prayers, will be utilized. 
  • Netivot/Pathways: Tefilla Yoga with Rabbi Heather Altman 
    • Rosh Hashana Day One and Yom Kippur – Sign up for both sessions or just one. You are welcome to attend any or parts of a sessions. Full day participation is not mandatory.
      This is a space for you to bring your emotions, body, spirit, and nervous system back into (or towards) balance. It is a grueling time for us, so come to learn and practice techniques that can mitigate the fear, hopelessness, or energy loss of trauma and daily stressors.
      Rabbi Heather Altman, somatic trauma healing expert shares cutting-edge neurobiological methods that are specifically designed selected to help you with wartime trauma. Drawing upon her training in Somatic Experiencing, Spiritual Direction, and Crisis Stabilization & Safety modalities, these interactive group sessions will include simple experiential and embodied practices that you can use on your own in your daily life.

Yom Kippur Break with Dara Horn
Guests, both in person and online, will have the opportunity to view a pre-recorded conversation between Dara Horn and Rabbi Michael Siegel. This video will be shown in the Blum Social Hall, as well as via our Anshe Emet livestream.

 

TICKETS:

This year, our Will Call and youth registration will take place in the Anshe Emet Welcome Center at the Broadway Street entrance as the Grace Street entrance is closed permanently. ALL guests will enter through the Broadway Street Entrance other than those with tickets in hand for the Main Sanctuary and Balcony. Guests who have received their Sanctuary and Balcony tickets in the mail and do not need to pick their tickets up at Will Call, or check-in for Youth Programming, are still invited to enter through the Pine Grove St. entrance.
