Run for Their Lives – Lincoln Park

July 23 @ 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM

run for their lives LP

Global run/walk events calling for the immediate release of the hostages held by Hamas

What is the activity?

Local communities meet once a week in a designated location in the neighborhood, for a short 1km walk/run. It takes about 18 minutes (ח”י דקות) end to end. These groups also:

  • Wear unified t-shirts (Order here)
  • Carry flags of the countries whose citizens are among the hostages
  • Shoot videos and spread this event on social media

But I don’t run…

No worries – All levels of physical ability are welcome. Many prefer walking this 1km – it should take less than 18 minutes.

I’m concerned for my safety

That’s a valid concern these days. Make your best judgment to decide if it’s safe.

However, we encourage a couple of principles to make this safer:

  • Don’t protest
  • Don’t disturb your neighbors. Do it quietly and don’t block roads.
  • Make it about humanity. It’s about innocent civilians being held by terrorists, not about the war.
  • We encourage carrying flags of all countries from which there are hostages.

Can I bring kids?

Yes! This is a family friendly event. It’s non violent, and does not call out the traumatic events that happened while captivating the hostages.

Who leads this?

The movement started by a group of Israelis in the Bay Area in California, in collaboration with the Hostage and Missing Families Forum (#BringThemHomeNow). But the local events are led by local communities independently.

How does it help?

Making this a global movement will show world leaders that we all care about this, that it’s not someone else’s problem. We would like for these leaders to help put pressure on Hamas to release the hostages and obey the rules of war.

We’ve seen locals, who are not directly related to the story, asking to join this movement because they feel for the hostages and believe in the cause.
