Tisha B’Av at Base

Tisha B’Av is the day in the Jewish calendar that holds all our grief and anger for the many acts of violence our people has suffered throughout our history. Join us at Base LNCLN as we move into this difficult and important day.
We’ll gather beginning at 6:15pm for a casual but hearty pre-fast dinner. Following this, we will join together for a kumzitz, an opportunity for spiritual singing as we transition into the sad mood of the day, around 7:15. At around 7:45, we will have Seudah haMafseket, the ritual pre-fast meal, a last bite of foods associated with mourning as we approach the darkest day of the Jewish year. The fast begins at 7:54 pm, after which we will read Eicha, the beautiful and troubling Biblical book of Lamentations.
