Learn more about the new Chicago-area cohort of Jewish Women International’s new program, At the Table: Men as Allies in Workplace Equity.
JWI (Jewish Women International) is bringing a new program to Chicago to help shape a future of equitable Jewish communal workplaces through a national program: “Men As Allies: Leading Equitable Workplaces.” his program was piloted this winter in the Washington, DC region and Chicago will serve as the second cohort.
This cohort will be taking an honest and open look at work-place culture and where, when, and how issues around gender equity can be addressed and improved. “Our staff and lay leaders play a central role in creating and supporting the culture that we want to see in our organizations. We are inviting you, as a leader in our organization, to help us spread the word about this initiative.”
The program will consist of a series of four 90-minute conversations among men divided into two different cohorts: one for professionals and one for lay leaders. I am honored to be facilitating both groups. The conversations will focus on leadership, the Jewish organizational workplace, and our roles as Jewish men. The goal is to become active allies, advocates, and stronger partners in assuring gender equity in our Jewish workplaces.
“At the Table: Men as Allies in Workplace Equity” seeks to equip male Jewish professionals, donors, and lay leaders with the confidence, tools, and information to be allies for gender equity. The program aims to cultivate a workplace culture of safety, respect, and true equity in the day-to-day operations and interactions, goals, and core values of Jewish organizations. JWI piloted the program in 2019 – 2020 at The Jewish Federation of Greater Washington and the Bender JCC and it is now launching nationally.
The #MeToo movement encouraged organizations and agencies to take an honest and open look at work-place culture and where, when, and how issues around gender equity can be addressed and improved. Jewish Agency staff and lay leaders play a central role in creating and supporting the culture that we want to see in our organizations.
“At the Table” is uniquely focused on working with Jewish men—staff and lay-leaders—to support them in becoming active allies, advocates, and stronger partners in promoting gender equity in Jewish workplaces.
Meetings will take place at over Zoom on the dates below. All sessions will run from 12:00-1:30pm central time.
Staff Cohort: October 26, November 9, November 23, and December 7
Lay Leader Cohort: November 2, November 16, November 30, and December 14
Participation will be invaluable to the goal of ensuring positive, equitable workplaces that build and nurture the talents and abilities of our staff, our board and our volunteers in Jewish organizations. The link to register, as well as to learn more about the program, can be found here.
