Historical Criticism and Queering the Text

November 19, 2022 @ 1:30 PM - 4:30 PM

Join us for some Jewish learning by our own resident Natan Hason! Together we’ll explore the narrative of Shlomo HaMelech, focusing on how critical scholarship has shed light on the multiplicity of voices in the Tanakh. In being able to access these different, and often subversive, strands of the text we are able to open up new interpretive possibilities.

This session is inspired by a line from Prof. Ken Stone, “I do not find it difficult to imagine that textual criticism, though admittedly not closely associated with queer theory, may turn out to be indispensable in the long term for queering the Bible.” Come learn with us and let’s see if he’s right!

Location TBD. Snacks and drinks will be provided.
